Practical Intelligence for Fashion Industry Professionals

Fashion Business Collective provides research, data, resources and tools that help fashion businesses understand their industry, meet emerging requirements, make better decisions and improve their operations. We observe and share what the industry does rather than judge.

Delivering information and collaboration that is useful whether you are a brand, manufacturer, technology provider, or trade association.

Why This Matters Now

The fashion industry faces unprecedented operational complexity. Digital Product Passport requirements arrive in 2027. Supply chain transparency expectations continue to intensify. Businesses are making choices that affect the next five years now. Tariff classifications affect margins daily. Technology choices carry long-term consequences.

Most industry intelligence comes with an agenda: vendor marketing, advocacy positioning, or media sensationalism. Fashion Business Collective exists to provide something different: practical information, insights and tools developed by people who have spent decades inside fashion operations.

Industry Initiatives

Fashion Business Collective is building open infrastructure to address operational challenges that affect the entire industry. EEach initiative is developed from research, with input from industry participants, standards bodies, and implementation partners, and with its.fashion as a founding partner.

Industry Events

We organise and collaborate on industry events that bring together professionals across the supply chain. Our February 2026 showcase in London brought brands, retailers, and operations leaders together to explore practical approaches to product management and compliance. Our flagship event, FBO26, takes place in London in October 2026. Details at fashion.business/events.

Our Approach

We do not judge brands, vendors or manufacturers. We do not campaign for particular commercial outcomes. We observe, document what exists, verify what is claimed, and convert that to provide information and frameworks that help professionals make informed decisions and improve their business.

This means:

  • Research conducted through direct engagement with sources, not desk research alone
  • Tools built on open standards where possible, easy to move in or out and avoiding vendor lock-in
  • Commercial relationships that do not compromise editorial independence

Founded by Industry Specialists

Ben M., Founder

Ben Muis

Founder of Fashion Business Collective

His career covers the full spectrum of fashion operations—from craft to global brand management to industry consulting. He trained and worked as a master tailor in Amsterdam, then worked in product, sourcing, and special projects at Nike, managed collections at Alfred Dunhill, ran Perry Ellis brands across Europe, and led Lee Cooper's global strategic restructuring.

This breadth of experience informed the following fifteen years of consulting work - serving 100+ fashion, sportswear, accessories, and home furnishing clients, helping more than 50 companies adopt advanced technologies including PLM. He has used what he observed when discussing industry challenges with policymakers and participated in House of Lords roundtables on the circular economy in fashion.

The consistent thread: fashion operations can and must be dramatically better. Fashion Business Collective exists to provide the neutral infrastructure that makes industry-wide progress possible. Through information, collaboration, technology and community.
